About Ernie Gutierrez, Ventura KO Boxing.
Ernie Gutierrez has been interested in boxing since the early age of 5 years.Ernie has been involved in Law Enforcement since 1979, starting out as a Cadet with the Ventura Police Department. Ernie attended Ventura College and received a degree in Administration of Justice. He then attended California State University, Northridge and pursued a degree in Sociology.
Ernie wanted to receive more training in Law Enforcement
so he attended and graduated from the Los Angeles Police Department
Academy.
Ernie has worked with Juvenile and Adult offenders in the jail system and is
currently working in that capacity.His interest in boxing led him
to hire a trainer and learn the skill so that he can pass it on to
his future students. Ernie then went to Los Angeles and sought out
the best trainers he could find.
Ernie was fortunate to spend time with ODLH physical
trainer, Rob Garcia in Big Bear, Ca. Rob taught Ernie a lot about
the nutritional aspect of training. Ernie has spent some time with
Hall of Fame referee Richard Steele in Las Vegas, and he provided him
priceless advice and tips. Ernie also receives input and wisdom from Dub
Huntley, former trainer of Laila Ali. So, in order to be the best, you have
to learn from the best!
Ernie’s mission does not stop here. He plans to continue his quest in talking with trainers, promoters and boxers thoughout the state and other states to gain more knowledge in the sport that he loves.
